Brest is a port city in Brittany, northwestern France. It is bisected by the Penfeld river. The town is known for its rich maritime history and naval base. At the mouth of the Penfeld, overlooking the harbor, is the Musée National de la Marine, housed in Brest’s medieval château. On the other side of the river is the Tour Tanguy, a medieval tower. To the northeast are the national botanical conservatory and Océanopolis.
